Frequently Asked Questions
What sort of music do you play?
- We choose songs that people will know and can dance to.
We like to think of it as being at the 'cool' end of pop, soul and rock.
Perhaps examples would help - songs by Sade, Paul Weller, Bill Withers,
Chris Rea, Carole King among many others. Click on 'Song List' page over on
the left to see more.
You don’t play too loudly do
you?
- No, we adapt our volume according to the venue and the
requirements of the function. In fact, we can adapt far more easily
than regular bands due to our unique combination of instruments. See the
Equipment page for more technical details.
How long do you play for?
- We do two one-hour sets with a break in between.
During the break we can put on background music, our choice or yours, if you wish. Length
and timing of sets during the function will be agreed with you to suit the
occasion, for
example two one-hour sets or three forty minute sets.
How much do you charge?
- For two one-hours sets, £450. This amount can vary
depending on some other factors, such as the size and overall duration
of the function, distance travelled, and whether you would like other
recorded music provided, during a meal, for example. We're happy to
negotiate discounts where repeat bookings are involved at clubs, for
example. We're happy to give you a quotation - use the Contact
page to tell us more about your requirements.
How do we pay you?
- For private functions a 10% deposit secures the booking
and the balance is payable on the night, cash preferred.
Will the band need feeding?
- Not essential, but always welcome!
How many musicians are in the band?
- Four: a lead vocalist, plus two guitarists and a percussionist who
all share
backing vocals. All
other instrumentation is generated by MIDI tracks using a top of the range high quality
Roland synthesiser.
Are you a karaoke band then?
- Absolutely not. All the tracks we play have been arranged, edited and
adapted by us in our own recording studio to fit our band line-up. We
are a live band that uses specially composed backing tracks to enhance our
performance.
Do you play requests?
- Not on the night, as we play pre-rehearsed sets. But if
you have a particular favourite or special song or tune you’d like played,
a 'first dance' number at a wedding for example, then let us know in good time beforehand and we’ll do our best to
prepare it.
Can you also provide incidental or background
music? During buffets, for example?
- Yes, of course. Discuss with us beforehand the sort of
thing you’ve got in mind.
We'll have a speech or two on the night, could we
use your microphone, etc?
- Certainly. We'll be glad
to help out, and make sure the person concerned is at ease with the
microphone.
Could you provide music for a barn dance event
where there is line dancing and so on?
Do need anything supplied on the day?
- Yes, two large bowls of Smarties with all the blue ones
removed and a dozen pure white bath towels. (Only kidding…)
- Apart from a readily available power supply, a
performance area no smaller than 15 sq. metres and somewhere private to
change, we’d also like early access to the function premises in order to
have plenty of time – two hours preferably - to set up and do a thorough
sound check.
